George A. Nicola, MD

Dr. Nicola is Idaho’s premier knee specialist, offering the best surgical and non-surgical treatment for chronic knee pain.

Dr. Nicola specializes in young adult sports injuries, but treats active patients in all age groups. He specializes in an array of techniques from rehab to reconstruction due to sports injuries, joint preservation techniques to maintain activity levels in younger arthritic individuals, to quad sparing knee joint replacements.

His Rapid Recovery program for outpatient total knee resurfacing/replacement and his new minimally invasive Subchondroplasty procedure help separate Dr. Nicola from other knee specialists. He is an expert in computerized navigation for knee surgeries.

Dr. Smith

John Q. Smith, MD

Dr. Smith is board certified and trained at the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He is experienced at diagnosing and treating sports injuries, fractures and surgically repairing major joints.

Dr. Smith specializes in major joint repairs along with arthroscopy of the hip, shoulder, knee and ankle. He offers surgical and non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal issues involving bones and muscles and is 100% dedicated to getting his patients back to an active lifestyle.

Dr. Daines

Michael T. Daines, MD

Dr. Daines is board certified and a  fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic surgeons. He is fellowship trained in shoulder surgery and specializes in minimally invasive shoulder surgery. He is skilled in the operative and non operative management of all shoulder conditions including rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, shoulder replacement and trauma. Dr. Daines also has special interest in all inside arthroscopic rotator cuff repair using a knotless technique, which allows for more rapid rehab and less scarring.

Dr. Daines completed a shoulder fellowship in August 2009 at Oxford University in England funded by the prestigious Girdlestone Scholarship. Prior to that he graduated from the University of Utah followed by medical school at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Specializing in the field of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Daines is prepared to treat a wide range of injuries to the musculoskeletal system, which includes the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments and tendons, in either a non-surgical or surgical manner, resorting to surgery when all other treatment methods have been exhausted or ruled out.  Additionally, Dr. Daines is trained to diagnose a range of musculoskeletal conditions, such as fractures or sprains.

Dr. Daines has long roots in the Treasure Valley, following in the footsteps of his father Joseph G. (Pete) Daines, MD and Joseph G. Daines, MD, his grandfather, in practicing orthopedics here.

Dr. Wolf

Jonathon C. Wolf, MD

Dr. Wolf specializes in foot and ankle surgery, including trauma and deformity correction. He also performs total ankle replacements and is skilled in the operative and non-operative treatment of general orthopedic injuries. An Idaho native, Dr. Jonathon Wolf joined West Idaho Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in September 2015, and is happy to be back in the Treasure Valley

Dr. Wolf completed a foot and ankle fellowship at the Harvard University-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and orthopedics residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Dr. Wolf is prepared to treat a wide range of orthopedic injuries to the musculoskeletal system and specializes in helping people get back to their pre-injury level of activity, whether that is running ultra-marathons, playing collegiate sports, or simply walking for exercise. Dr. Wolf has a clinical interest in minimally-invasive foot and ankle surgery, foot and ankle reconstruction, sports-related injuries, cartilage, ligament and tendon disorders and orthopedic trauma. He also enjoys teaching and has served as a former clinical instructor at the University of Cincinnati and a Clinical Fellow at the Harvard Combined Orthopedic Residency Program.
